Mel Saward and co‑writer Brooke Blurton have had their young adult novel A Good Kind of Trouble shortlisted for the 2026 Ethel Turner Prize for Young People’s Literature at the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards, following its earlier shortlisting for the Readings Prize for Young Adult Readers. Judges praised the book’s big‑hearted storytelling, its light touch with complex themes, and the warmth, humour and resilience of protagonist Jamie as she navigates first crushes, footy, friendship and speaking up for true history in the classroom. Read by young people and by adults who wish they’d had a book like this growing up - a contemporary, inclusive take on The Baby‑Sitters Club—the story continues with the sequel, Making Trouble, published by HarperCollins in March.
