Dr Andrea Bubenik will present at Migrating Modernism, Migrating Ideas, a symposium hosted by the Chau Chak Wing Museum at the University of Sydney (26-28 August). Bringing together leading scholars of art, architecture, and visual culture, the symposium examines the transnational circulation of ideas, people, and objects in the making of modernity. Bubenik’s paper “Brisbane Baroque? Seidler’s Fluid Forms” reconsiders the architecture of Harry Seidler (1923-2006) through the lens of Baroque aesthetics, exploring how concepts of movement, dynamism, spatial fluidity, and sensory engagement offer new perspectives on Seidler’s modernist practice. This September, Bubenik will be an expert contributor to UQ's Wonders of Italy Alumni Tour (6-16 September), sharing her passion for Italian art, architecture, and culture with alumni travellers along the way. Drawing on her expertise in Renaissance and Baroque art and many years leading UQ's Art & Architecture in Venice field school, Andrea will offer insights into some of Italy's most extraordinary places, artworks, and stories.
