This scholarship includes an internship at boutique PR firm, Cole Lawson Communications, and a $3000 cash prize. Cole Lawson Communications has a keen interest in rewarding a motivated student who is able to demonstrate a strong interest and commitment to pursuing a career in public relations or communication. The Cole Lawson Communications Scholarship is open to all undergraduate communication students in programs within the School of Communication and Arts who have completed the prerequisite courses.
- Cole Lawson may offer the recipient of a CLC scholarship a vacation internship at any Cole Lawson site for any period during the period in which the recipient holds the scholarship, determined by Cole Lawson in consultation with the recipient.
- The scholarship is awarded to the applicant showing the greatest merit as demonstrated by: academic merit in the Bachelor of Communication program to date; and the strength of the interest and commitment that the applicant demonstrates in pursuing a career in public relations or communication; and high level of skill in writing that the applicant demonstrates in a paper of no more than 1000 words on the topic chosen by Cole Lawson for the year; and the applicant's motivation and other personal qualities; and any other matter that the selection committee considers to be relevant to the applicant's future success in a public relations or communication profession.
The scholarship is open to students:
- Enrolled in the Bachelor of Communication or Bachelor of Communication dual degree at the University of Queensland; have successfully completed COMU1052, COMU1152 and either COMU2005 or COMU2012; and do not hold a scholarship that the Head of School considers to be similar.
- The recipient of a CLC scholarship may hold the scholarship for the duration of their final year, subject to satisfying the following requirements during that time - the recipient must - continue to be a student within the meaning of the Fee Rules; and continue to be enrolled in the Bachelor of Communication program, in the relevant field; and maintain satisfactory academic progress; and not hold a scholarship that the Head considers to be similar to the CLC scholarship; and if the recipient accepts an offer of a vacation internship at Cole Lawson, the recipient must conduct themselves in a professional manner while performing the duties of an intern.
