Big Stories Small Towns Beaudesert was a collaboration between the Centre for Communication for Social Change and the multiplatform documentary project Big Stories Small Towns. Centre Project Officer Samantha Ryan worked as Producer with filmmaker in residence Peter Hegedus and Big Stories Creative Producer and Centre Postdoctoral Research Fellow Martin Potter. CSC Masters students enrolled in the new Participatory Media Production course were involved in the project in semester two, creating work with the local community. The resulting films, digital stories and images were screened and exhibited to the community of Beaudesert on conclusion of the project as well as the website www.bigstories.com.au

Elske van de Fliert and Samantha Ryan will be screening some of the films and talking about the research, teaching and engagement outcomes of the project.

Associate Professor Elske van de Fliert is Director of the Centre for Communication and Social Change. She is a leading academic and practitioner in the field of participatory development communication and transdisciplinary research for development.

Samantha Ryan is Communication and Research Officer at the Centre for Communication and Social Change. She recently completed her Master in Communication for Social Change at UQ.
