Date: 11 - 12 December 2014

Venue: Seminar Room, Level 6, Michie Building 9, University of Queensland, St Lucia, Brisbane. Queensland

The Dangerous Consumptions Colloquium draws on social, cultural and critical theory to discuss research on all forms of dangerous, risky and contested consumption.

Past events have included presentations exploring alcohol, tobacco, pharmaceuticals, illicit drugs, gambling, sex, public health policy and popular culture from social research and cultural studies perspectives.

The Colloquium runs over two days with a single stream of papers (there are no concurrent sessions). This gives participants the opportunity to share ideas and understandings from different perspectives and enter into an ongoing discussion about dangerous consumptions.

The Colloquium is being held at the University of Queensland, hosted by the School of English, Media Studies and Art History and the School of Journalism and Communication. The conveners are Fiona Nicoll, Nicholas Carah and Mallory Peak.

We encourage academics, researchers and students to circulate details of the event within their own networks.
