About BlackWords: ALL IN for National Reconciliation Week ~ Presentation and Morning Tea

BlackWords: ALL IN for National Reconciliation Week - Presentation and Morning Tea

Wednesday 27th May 2026, 10-11:30am @ The Writers Studio (Building 9-612)

BlackWords is a dedicated space within AustLit that records and makes accessible Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander writing and storytelling—from published literature to film, television, criticism, and scholarship. Now approaching its twentieth anniversary, BlackWords can be seen as reparative work in action, shaping how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander literary and cultural production is indexed, described, and made findable, ensuring it is visible and valued within the national record in ways that are culturally considered and responsive to community. This NRW morning tea will introduce the resource and offer a practical orientation on how to use BlackWords in teaching, research, or independent exploration - demonstrating how it has been, and can be an important tool and interactive platform for reconciliation.
