Celebrating Our Graduates: A Memorable Ceremony

18 July 2025

I am delighted to share my reflections on Wednesday's graduation ceremony, which took place on 16th July at 3pm. As the newly appointed Head of School, I had the tremendous privilege and honour of serving as Master of Ceremonies for this special occasion, celebrating the achievements of our graduating students from the School of Communications and Arts, alongside our colleagues from the School of Music, including our Higher Degree by Research (HDR) candidates.

The ceremony was a truly wonderful experience, marking not only the culmination of our students' academic journeys but also representing one of my first major ceremonial duties in this new role. There is something profoundly moving about witnessing the moment when years of dedication, creativity, and scholarly pursuit come together in recognition of academic achievement.

Our Communication and Arts graduates represent the vibrant and innovative spirit that defines our school. These students have spent their academic careers exploring the complex intersections of media, digital communication, visual arts, creative writing, journalism, and contemporary storytelling.

As I stood before our graduates, their families, and our academic community, I was particularly proud to represent a school that has consistently fostered critical thinking, creative innovation, and ethical communication practices. Our graduates are well-equipped to navigate and shape the rapidly evolving landscape of communications, media, and the arts.

For those who would like to relive this special moment, the ceremony was recorded and can be viewed at: LINK

Congratulations once again to all our Communication and Arts graduates. Your achievements reflect not only your individual dedication but also the excellence of our programs and the commitment of our faculty.
