In conversation with Laura Elvery
In conversation with Laura Elvery
Presented by: A/Prof Stephen Carleton
Date: Friday 24 September 2021
Time: 1–2pm
Location: Online via Zoom
Laura Elvery is the author of two short story collections (Trick of the Light and Ordinary Matter, both with UQP), the latter of which has just won the 2021 Steele Rudd Award at the Queensland Literary Awards. As inaugural UQ writer in residence, Laura is drafting her next book, a novel inspired by the life and death of Florence Nightingale. Associate Professor Stephen Carleton will lead a Q&A with Laura about her publishing journey, switching careers, completing a practice-led PhD, finding time to write, success and failure, and her life as a working author.
All staff and students with an interest in contemporary literature and pathways into publishing are warmly encouraged to join us in conversation.
